We Took a Deep Breath Today...
We woke up this morning finding ourselves rubbed raw by the world. It seems the air is thundering with the sound of breaking glass from people who live in glass houses. The constant bickering is like the kids in the back seat pointing at each other - but not touching - and screaming."I'm not touching you!"
"I'm not at fault!"
"Yes you are!"
"Nuh-uh!"
We're not sure who it would be, but we're waiting for someone with enough moral gravity and leadership skill to yell, " SHUT UP! DO I HAVE TO TURN THIS CAR AROUND RIGHT NOW? I WILL!"
Sadly, there doesn't seem to be anyone around. There are lots of volunteers of course, all with the ugly stain of the thick, Gulf Coast mud. Things are so out of control they are an anarchist's wet dream. Disaster heaped upon disaster. Death upon death.
We couldn't take it anymore, so we took a deep breath. We didn't watch the news. We read a book and a few blogs that were talking about something more mundane. We can't say that it relaxed or refreshed us, but it did give us a little respite. Hopefully, we'll get some sleep and be stronger tomorrow.
Something tells us we're going to need all the strength we can muster.
