Posting Update

We heard quite a bit of the exchange between the White House Press Corps and little Scotty M. this morning. Much was made of the failure to properly inform the press about this incident and there was the usual antagonism between the Corps and Scotty.

While we believe that the press incessantly beating this horse is a little overkill, we can't say we're too impressed by the White House response either.

The situation should have been handled differently. The press should be able to question why it was handled the way it was, but they're also wasting a lot of time that could be better spent pinning Scotty to the wall over real issues.

For their part, the White House generally, and Scotty in particular, should have been able to anticipate how this would play out - which shows a remarkable lack of saavy for a world leader's PR team. It makes them look like they're are hiding things at worst and are just incredibly arrogant at best. We personally believe it's the latter, but we don't have a Jeff Gannon inside to check it out for us.

So our verdict is, let the matter go. The WH team screwed up. Nobody should be surprised at that, least of all the press. And members of the Fourth Estate, let it go. Accidents happen when you play with loaded guns and this is just one of those times.

If you have passed out from my unusual "defense" of Team Cheney, please go to the hospital immediately for treatment. Just make sure you call the WH Press Corps when you do. It'll make it much easier for everyone to get along.
